Adult and Online Studies Admissions


New students (those with fewer than 12 semester hours of earned college credit) must have earned (or will earn) a regular high school diploma with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher or official acceptable GED or HiSet scores.

For students using the GED, if taken 2014 or later, a minimum score of 145 must be obtained on each of the 4 content areas the HiSet equivalent.

Admission decisions are based on a careful review of the applicant’s previous academic preparation, high school grade point average. The Admissions Appeals Committee may review the academic record of applicants who do not meet the University’s standard of admission to determine their academic potential at Tusculum University. The Committee will recommend either acceptance or denial of applicants to the Provost. If any additional information is needed for further review, the Office of Admission will contact the student. Items requested may include, but are not limited to, information regarding special accomplishments, honors and awards, community service projects, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement that may help put the student’s academic background into context.

 

Transfer students (those with 12 or more semester hours of earned college credit) must meet the following requirement:

  1. A cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher from an accredited college or university

 

International students may not apply for undergraduate Adult and Online Studies.

 

Adult and Online Student application deadline for a semester is the Tuesday the week the semester starts. For Fall 2024, that is August 27, 2024. For Spring 2025, that is January 21, 2025.

Admission Procedures

To be considered for admission the following is required for each bachelor’s degree program:

  1. Complete the Adult and Online Studies admission application.
  2. Request official (sealed) transcripts of all college coursework mailed directly from each previous institution to Tusculum University.
  3. Veterans submit a certified Veterans’ Form DD214 showing an honorable discharge.
  4. Current military personnel submit basic training documentation.
  5. Students for whom English is a second language must submit an official TOEFL score from within the last five years.

Please note that individual programs may have additional admission requirements, which can be found in the Adult and Online Studies major section for each degree.

Adult and Online Studies Enrollment Deposit

Applicants who are offered admission are asked to submit an enrollment deposit of $100 prior to registration. Deposits are non-refundable and can only be deferred two semester. The deposit will be credited to the applicant’s account in the Business Office and will reduce the amount of tuition due at the time of billing.
