BUSN 209 - Political & Legal Foundations of Free Enterprise

This course will address topics such as republicanism, constitutionalism, rule of law, property rights, contract enforcement, limited government, civil rights and civil liberties, and economic freedom, among others. The course will emphasize how these principles are crucial to the formation, expansion, and continuation of the free enterprise system and thus are fundamental to the entrepreneurial pursuits of business owners. The course will examine the relation of these topics to the free enterprise system from different historical and cultural perspectives including Ancient times (Greeks, Romans, Jewish Thought, Early Church) as well as the periods of the Renaissance, Reformation, Enlightenment, and American Founding.
