SOCI 215 - Sociology of Sport Credit(s): 3 This course examines the relationship between sport and society. It looks at how sport is shaped by social structures and institutions, and how sport, in turn, shapes society. The course covers a wide range of topics including history of sport, the socialization of athletes, the impact of sport on community and culture, the relationship between sport and media, experiences of social class, race and ethnicity, gender, and sexuality within the realm of sports, and role of sport in the economy and politics.
