The museum studies major (BA) provides students with the academic training and hands-on experiences needed to work in the museum field. Students work to realize an understanding of the important role of museums within their communities and develop the skills necessary to serve as museum administrators, curators, and educators. Students assemble a portfolio that demonstrates competence in the various sub-fields of museum work. Many portfolio projects are completed in cooperation with local museums, historical agencies, and the two on-campus museums (The Doak House Museum and The President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library).
