2021-2022 Academic Catalog [ARCHIVED CATALOG]

Census Date

Due to the variety of instructional delivery methods resulting from COVID-19 safety measures, the University temporarily adjusted its method for attendance reporting beginning with the Fall 2020 semester. The criteria used to determine attendance for census reporting is any student who has participted in any academic-related activity for a course since the start of the semester, whether that activity is Face-to-Face, Zoom, Canvas, or email.  A student will be marked absent if they have not participated in any academic-related activity for a course since the start of the semester, whether Face-to-Face, Zoom, Canvas, or email. Students who have not attended class will be dropped and no grade assigned.

The Census Date is the day on which course enrollments are finalized. It is the point at which enrollment is locked and financial aid for the term is adjusted to reflect the student’s official enrolled credits. For additional information about Census Date, please refer to the Financial Aid  section.

Prior to implementing this temporary measure, Tusculum University required attendance to be recorded for every course until the tenth day of class in the fall, spring and summer terms. Verification of participation for online, hybrid, student teaching, internships and clinical courses was submitted by completion of the course enrollment agreement (CEA). Course materials were not available to students to begin work in an online or hybrid class until the CEA was completed.
