EDUC 572 - Integrated Literacy For Elementary Teaching II Credit(s): 3 This course is the second of three integrated literacy courses for K-5 licensure candidates. Throughout the course, candidates will examine the research on how children become literate and the practical implications of this research for teachers. Topics include analyzing complex texts and unit design, creating literacy-rich environments, and analyzing culturally appropriate assessments. Candidates in the course will engage in standards-based literacy planning, instruction, and assessment. Over the semester, candidates will design a comprehensive literacy unit plan and create lesson plans that include evidence-based instructional strategies.
